Rancho Cucamonga Councilman Steinorth to run for Assembly

RANCHO CUCAMONGA >> The Inland Empire Taxpayers Association on Monday announced its endorsement of Rancho Cucamonga Councilman and businessman Marc Steinorth for the 40th Assembly District.
“With Assemblyman Mike Morrell running to fill the vacancy left by Sen. Bill Emmerson’s resignation, we need someone strong to step into the race for the 40th Assembly District,” said Chris Mann, IETA founder, in a statement. “We need to come together and rally behind one candidate early if we hope to be successful in November. Marc Steinorth is clearly the best positioned and most qualified person for the job.”

Steinorth announced his candidacy on Thursday.
“I am running for Assembly in 2014 to provide the small businesses and hard working families of the Inland Empire a voice in Sacramento,” said Steinorth in a statement. “I am flattered by the number of people who have asked me to run for this seat, and I plan on working very hard to win this election.”
Steinorth, who was elected to the City Council in 2012, is the owner of the Rancho Cucamonga-based Atlas Buying Group. He is a Republican.
San Bernardino County Supervisor Janice Rutherford and Rep. Gary Miller have also endorsed Steinorth.

“Marc has more than two decades of business experience that will bring badly needed jobs back to the Inland Empire,” said Miller. “I know he will be a solid voice for us in Sacramento and he has my full support.”
Steinorth faces Chaffey Joint Union High School board member Art Bustamante and Correctional Counselor Elvira Harris, both who are Democrats..
The district includes Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino, Redlands, Highland. Loma Linda, Lytle Creek and Mentone.

Rancho Cucamonga Women’s Club plans Dec. 11 meeting

The Rancho Cucamonga Women’s Club will have its monthly general meeting on Dec. 11 at the Alta Laguna Mobile Home Park, 10210 Base Line Road, at 11:30 a.m.
Lunch will be served. The Upland Christian “Beyond the Cross” Choir directed by Doug Porterfield will provide the entertainment.
Eight new members have joined in October and November, according to membership committee members Diane Kiefer and Phyliss Blacky. Persons interested in joining should call Keifer at 909-941-7822

Dec. 14 blood drive at Ontario church

Redeemer Lutheran Church and School, 920 W. Sixth St., Ontario, will host a LifeStream community blood drive on Dec. 14.
It will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donors receive a $10 Panera Bread gift card.
All prospective donors should be free of infections or illness, weigh at least 110 pounds, and not be at risk for AIDS or hepatitis.

Glad you asked!  Consider physical exercise for a moment: Science has long understood that you don't build muscleduring the workout, muscle builds during rest–that's why working out too long or too often is counterproductive to fitness.  When it comes to work, the same principle holds true: Attempting to sustain 24/7 productivity leads to fatigue, lowered immunity to illness, lack of ideas (or just plain bad ones), and time-wasting. The holidays present an opportunity to set work aside, but they can also be stressful in their own way. So here are a few ideas that can help you get more from your holiday breaks:  Focus on your Top Three. Think of three things you love about the holidays, write them down, and forget everything else. Be it lighting the Hanukkah menorah, cuddling under the mistletoe, decorating your Christmas tree, listening to holiday music, or just driving around the neighborhood to see the pretty lights–your focused intention matters when it comes to enjoying experiences. Sock your smartphone. Remember the days when phones were tethered to the base unit and you couldn't check your Facebook newsfeed? Aside from risking technology addiction, turning off your phone and putting it out of reach will help refocus attention on visiting with family and friends and, believe it or not, increase the fun!  Take me for a walk. Bundle up and trundle out for a walk, by yourself or with the whole group! A change in scenery can alleviate that "cabin fever" feeling you get with extra people in the house. Plus, a little exercise clears your head and fills your body with those delightful endorphins, making you feel great!  Don't get SAD. Sometimes, lack of enjoyment during the holiday season stems from physiological reactions to reduced daylight during winter months. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is caused by a lack of light coming through the eyes. It is easily relieved, however, by gradually increasing your exposure to natural and full spectrum light sources. Try spending 15-30 minutes a day in sunlight, and replace overhead fluorescent light bulbs with "full spectrum" bulbs. Give a little bit. The last few years haven't been easy for many people. Donating your time or talent to make the holidays special for someone in need is one of the few gifts you can give to someone else and yourself at the same time.
